Recipe 1: Stress Relief Essential Oil Blend

The bright sunny aroma of this blend is great for relieving all kinds of mental and emotional stress. As it contains citrus oils, this blend is best used in essential oil burners or vapourizers for scenting a room. If you wish to use this blend as massage oil, do not expose your skin to sunlight immediately after the massage as the citrus oils may cause phototoxic reaction on your skin. Therefore, massages with this blend is best done at night before bedtime. Make sure that you take a morning shower the next day to remove all traces of the oil before going out in the sun.

Ingredients:

Lavender essential oil                                8 drops

Sweet orange essential oil                       4 drops

Lemon essential oil                         3 drops

For vaporizing:

  1. Fill your essential oil burner with water. Add the essential oils. Lit the burner’s tea light candle and enjoy.

As massage oil:

  1. Blend with 60 to 80 ml of your favorite base oil. Use only vegetable-source base oils like sweet almond oil, grape seed oil, sesame oil, etc.

Recipe 2: Headache Buster Blend

Ingredients:

Lavender essential oil                    8 drops

Peppermint essential oil               8 drops

For vaporizing:

  1. Fill your essential oil burner with water. Add the essential oils. Lit the burner’s tea light candle and enjoy.

For topical use:

  1. Blend the essential oils with 10ml of jojoba oil. Store in a small dark glass bottle and keep in a dark cool place.

How to use:

  1. Massage a small amount to your temples and other sore areas when you have a headache. Relax and breathe in the aroma as you massage with this oil.  Caution: Avoid contact with the eyes.

Recipe 3: Insect Bite Relief Blend

Ingredients:

Lavender essential oil                    10 drops

Tea tree essential oil                      10 drops

Jojoba oil                                         20ml

For topical use:

  1. Blend the essential oils with 10ml of jojoba oil. Store in a small dark glass bottle and keep in a dark cool place.

How to use:

  1. Apply a small amount to affect area and massage well.

Recipe 4: Soothing Herbal Bath

Dried lavender                    6 tablespoons

Dried chamomile               5 tablespoons

Dried rose buds                  5 tablespoons

How to prepare:

  1. Place all the herbs in a large teapot or kettle.
  2. Pour 5 liters of hot, freshly boiled water over the herbs. Cover tight and infuse for 15 minutes. Strain to pour into the bath tub.
  3. Add another 4 liters of hot, freshly boil water to the herbs for a 2nd brew. Infuse for another 15 minutes.
  4. Strain to pour the 2nd brew into the bath tub.
  5. Fill your bath tub with warm water until it reaches a level that you are comfortable with.
  6. Enjoy.

Note: Do not soak in a bath for more than 20 minutes. Avoid if you’re pregnant, menstruating, or not feeling well in any way. People with strokes, high blood pressure or heart diseases should consult a doctor prior to soaking in hot baths.

Recipe 5: Lavender Miso Soup

This soup is especially good for ladies experiencing PMS or menopausal symptoms.

Ingredients:

Dried lavender buds                     3 teaspoons

Miso paste                                        2 to 3 teaspoons

Diced carrots                                  2 tablespoons

Diced fresh Chinese Yam          1 tablespoon

Shredded fresh burdock              1 tablespoon

Portion: 1

Preparation:

  1. Add 1.5 bowls of water together with carrots, Chinese yam and fresh burdock to a small pot.
  2. Bring to boil. Reduce to low heat and simmer for 1 hour.
  3. Place lavender buds in a cup. Add ½ cup of hot, freshly boiled water. Cover and infuse for 15 to 20 minutes. Strain to remove the lavender buds.

Turn off the heat. Remove pot from stove and pour in lavender infusion. Stir in miso paste and mix well. Serve immediately.
